Dear Clair E.,

eNews- November 2011

Welcome: We have been enjoying the warm color palette of fall in our heavily forested   area-the brilliant yellow, orange, and red colors of the turning leaves. The brisk fall nights and cooler days have put a little pep into everyone's step. Extra energy is a good thing. We now have lots of leaves to rake. If you enjoy four definite seasons, you would appreciate southern Illinois.

Fall

Behind the Scenes: This November, 3ABN celebrated our 27th year anniversary! We hope you had the opportunity to participate in our special celebration by watching our 2-hour anniversary program, featuring people involved from the beginning to now and how the Lord continues to lead. It is amazing to consider what God has done through this ministry to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free from sin. Over the years, thousands upon thousands of souls have joined the Adventist church after learning the clear Bible truths presented on 3ABN. It all began one night in November 1984 when God impressed Danny Shelton to build a station that would reach the world. Danny immediately stepped out in faith and the Lord provided everything necessary to launch this world network. The Lord continues to bless this ministry, ordained and brought into existence by His own leading. Who could have dared to imagine what God wanted to accomplish? And because God has supplied every need, we cannot take any credit-we owe it all to our loving Heavenly Father, and to you!

Verse Of The Day: "He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them." Hebrews 7:25 (AMP)

Behind the Scenes: It is always a pleasure to have John and Rosemary Malkiewycz (from "down under") come to work with us at our world headquarters. These lovely Christians are doing a powerful work at 3ABN Australia, and have dedicated their lives to the mission of this end time work. They are currently overseeing the construction of a 3ABN Production Center in Morisset, Australia, as the Lord provides the funds and volunteer labor. Included is a photo taken in Studio A here at World Headquarters. The beautiful rose bouquet was presented at our 27th year anniversary, as a gift to 3ABN from Pastor John Carter (the Carter Report).

End of the Year Giving: 3ABN was launched by faith and continues to walk by faith! We sincerely thank God for you, our faithful supporters, and request your continued prayers for 3ABN's financial needs. One pressing issue is the replacement of aged and obsolete equipment. We currently use tape-deck recorders to capture our programming, which increases production/editing time by a ratio of 4 man-hours for every 1 hour of taping. Fifteen years ago these devices were cutting-edge technology, but today they are no longer manufactured (making parts for needed repairs unavailable). Conversion to the modern, file-based, "tapeless" recording system is overdue. To outfit our multiple studios, an equipment investment of $600,000 is required. Increased productivity and cost savings on tape purchases will offset this cost rapidly. Please consider earmarking a special end-of-the-year gift to 3ABN for "Tapeless Recording System." Every extra gift-large or small-will have an impact on fulfilling this great need. May God bless you for giving!

God's Daily Blessing: When you rise in the morning, do you feel your helplessness and your need of strength from God? And do you humbly, heartily make known your wants to your heavenly Father? If so, angels mark your prayers, and if these prayers have not gone forth out of feigned lips, when you are in danger of unconsciously doing wrong and exerting an influence which will lead others to do wrong, your guardian angel will be by your side, prompting you to a better course, choosing your words for you, and influencing your actions. (Testimonies, vol. 3, pp. 363,364.)

Behind the Scenes: When retired Pastor Abel Serrano decided to join the 3ABN pastoral staff, serving as a volunteer, our department's response was an enthusiastic "Thank You, Jesus!" Cuban-born Pastor Serrano has served in ministry for 40+ years, in Spain, the United States, and Puerto Rico. Now, he will continue to serve the Lord by dedicating his energies to reviewing 3ABN Latino programs for content, and make himself available to our Spanish-speaking viewers who call in for prayer.

Answers to Difficult Questions: 2 Thessalonians 2:15 "Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle."

Answer:The Greek word translated "traditions" is "paradoseis," which literally means "things handed over" or "passed down." There were many traditions of men that were based upon error and false theories. These are heartily condemned in the Bible because they contradict or subvert the truth of God (Matthew 15:3). But these traditions spoken of by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 were those things that had been handed over by Christ and that the apostles were now passing along to the world. Paul does not give a wholesale endorsement to tradition as such. He limits the traditions to which they should "hold fast" to those the church had received "by word or our epistle." This encompassed only the inspired teaching or writing of those who had received their message directly from Christ and were ministering to the churches at that time. Paul declared that if any person or angel should preach any other gospel than the one he had preached, "...let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8).

Behind the Scenes: We introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Michael Younkin, married October 16th in Hiram, Georgia. Michael, the multi-talented groom, has worked in our production department since 2006 in the areas of engineering, audio, and lighting, he is a member of 3ABN's active truck crew. These are the employees who go on the road to set up and cover off-site productions, as well as all the productions taped in our 3ABN Worship Center (Camp Meetings and special series). His precious wife, Rachael, is a Registered Nurse, specializing in Oncology. This lovely couple has a deep dedication to (and love for) the Lord. They have made their home in West Frankfort, IL.

Fundamental Beliefs: Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These 28 fundamental beliefs constitute the Church's understanding and expression of the teaching of the Scripture. Today's belief number one is The Holy Scriptures: The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history. (2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 30:5, 6; Isaiah 8:20; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 4:12.)

Behind the Scenes: "Girls Day Out." A small group enjoyed a special luncheon that served to welcome Svetlana Christian (the new bride of Jay Christian), who has moved to the US from Russia, and to say a fond farewell to Julia Outkina (who was returning to 3ABN Russia without her dear friend and colleague). It was a special time, as the ladies shared laughter and tears, hopes and dreams, and Christian fellowship. (l-r and top to bottom) Mollie Steenson, Shelley Quinn, Cari Christian, Dee Hilderbrand, Julia Outkina, Camille Gilley, Yvonne Lewis and Svetlana Christian.

Thought For the Day: The Glory of the Cross The revelation of God's love to man centers in the cross. Its full significance tongue cannot utter, pen cannot portray, the mind of man cannot comprehend. Looking upon the cross of Calvary, we can only say, "God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16. Christ crucified for our sins, Christ risen from the dead, Christ ascended on high, is the science of salvation that we are to learn to teach. Ministry of Healing, pg. 423, E.G. White

Behind the Scenes: I've heard it said that Shakespeare coined the phrase, "Cleanliness is next to godliness." Whether or not that is true, I do know the Bible says our God is a God of order-which perhaps prompted 3ABN's official and well organized "Clean-Up Day" on October 27th. As all employees worked together to rid our work environment of obsolete materials, it was amazing to see the amount of things that found their way to the dumpster. Coordinator John Hauser stated, "I was extremely impressed how well everyone worked together and can't wait for the next one."

Affirmation: My children enjoy great peace, because the Lord teaches them. My children are obedient to God and honor their mother and father. I will restrain my voice from weeping and my eyes from tears. My work in child rearing will be rewarded; if my children are carried away, they will return from the land of the enemy. The Lord is a righteous God, and He will save my children, cutting them free from any wickedness that may try to bind them. He will open their eyes, turn them from darkness to light-from the power of Satan to God-and give them an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ. God will contend with the devil to save my children. (Isaiah 54:13; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:2,3; Jeremiah 31:16,17; Psalm 129:4; Acts 26:18; Isaiah 49:25) Life Affirmations from Scripture pg. 50, by Shelley Quinn.

Behind the Scenes: Most everyone enjoys a birthday party. It's fun to celebrate another year of life, extended by the grace of God, and share a little treat together. Jennifer Todd (3ABN Marketing Department) has assumed the role of tracking these special dates for our second floor staff members. At the end of the month, we gather for a short social to sing "Happy Birthday" and-of course-pass the cake around. October birthdays included Jozeph Palhegyi, Amy Sanchez, Hal Steenson, Scott Ellis and Cari Christian.

Become a 3ABN Prayer Warrior:http://www.3abn.org/prayer_warrior.cfm If the Holy Spirit convicts you that this may be your calling, please visit our website and follow directions, submitting the necessary information. Being a Prayer Warrior is one of the most rewarding ministries there is. When we walk the streets of gold, only then will we know the extent of our cooperative efforts with the Lord. We continually receive input from our Prayer Warriors stating how satisfying it is to work in the Lord's vineyard. What we intend to be a blessing for others is a greater blessing for us. God gets all the glory.

Behind the Scenes: Robert and Nadya Stotz are the proud parents of baby Sofiya,    born September 29, 2011. Their beautiful baby girl came into the world weighing 6 lbs and 10 oz, with a full head of coal black hair, and with her days and nights a bit confused. Finally, Sofiya is beginning to sleep at night and Mama and Daddy are relieved to get some much needed rest. Robert and Nadya are already proving to be wonderful parents, dedicated to teaching Sofiya all about our loving Lord. Both Mama and Daddy are doing fine; she is presently sleeping more at night allowing both parents to get some much needed rest.

Behind the Scenes: This photo was taken in 3ABN's Studio B where RobbieD Lauterjung and volunteer Svetlana Christian spent hours decorating the beautiful winter set for our upcoming holiday specials. We so appreciate the talent God has brought to this network. We so appreciate the people who work here, dedicating their God-given gifts to His service.
