Risk Free as all mail goes to a P.O. Box and is forwarded both ways. All inmate mail is read by trained staff. It is so safe that even children can and do write.

This site will contain the applications for becoming a Pen Friend through Vision of Hope Prison Ministry. Please copy the application and send it to Vision of Hope Prison Ministry if you are interested in writing to prisoners. Once we receive your application to write to our inmates we will match you with a Pen Friend. Please forward all mail to your Pen Friend to the ministry address at:

Vision of Hope will update these rules as they become available to us. These are the rules of the prison not Vision of Hope Prison Ministry Rules.

Texas has updated rules for inmates stationary.

This is a current update on mail for all TDCJ units;

Legal Pads are allowed as long as they are white in color and are the glued tops. 8 1/2 X 14 are allowed.

All other paper MUST be white in color and no larger than 8 1/2 x 11.

Note Cards are still available MUST be purchased by the inmate. This will be the next item to go if they begin to have problems with it.

Journals are allowed as long as the paper inside is white.

Quadrille and Carbon paper is still allowed.

All inmates will have to get rid of their colored paper at the end of the month according to MSCP. .....they were having a problem with the women dying their under garments
and other white clothes with the ink from the colored paper.

Due to threats of disciplinary action against inmates, Vision of Hope Prison Ministry does not accept applications for Pen Friends from Missouri or Florida. Missouri posted their disciplinary policy for inmates found to be on Pen pal sites or soliciting pen pals to be effective 1 June 2007.

 

We have had reports of abuse and disciplinary actions taken against inmates in the Florida prison system as well. We do not want anyone abused or disciplined because of our web site.
