Dress for the Occasion
As God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians
3:12).
Scripture: Colossians 3:12-17
Song: "Change My Heart, O God"
When I taught first grade in public school, I used to pretend to spray
the ceiling with self-control as the students entered the room.
Throughout the day, as children misbehaved, I encouraged them to "pull
down some self-control and put it on." They loved doing this. And in
the process, their attitudes and behaviors usually improved.
Later, when I taught fourth grade in a Christian school, I told the
students about this and pointed out that self-control is a fruit of
the Spirit, available to everyone. We need only ask for it and choose
to exercise it.
I recall Bible teacher Joyce Meyer saying that she never once walked
into her closet and had clothes jump onto her body. She had to choose
what to wear and take the time to clothe herself.
Somehow, it seems the old self has no problem re-outfitting our bodies
daily. As we walk in the image of our Creator, we must be aware of
this. That is, we'll need to keep removing the old stained garments
and keep stepping into the garments of righteousness, cleansed by
Christ's blood.
Lord, where do I need to be cleansed and re-dressed? Please continue
to renew my soul as I choose to walk in Your image. In Jesus' name,
amen.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my
righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
Scripture: Isaiah 41:4-10
Song: "Under His Wings"
Baby Alana's huge blue eyes sparkled as she took her first step. Three
more and she reached her daddy's waiting arms. Tiny steps, but big
enough to open a whole new world of exploration and choices.
For weeks she had tried to walk but became distracted, lost her
balance, and tumbled to the floor. Tonight, however, she kept her eyes
on the goal. Nothing was more important than reaching her father's
arms. She trusted him to be there for her, and he was.
In Matthew 14:28-32, Peter walked on water, focusing intently on
Jesus. But when he looked away at the stormy situation, he began to
sink, crying "Lord, save me!" Like Alana, Peter fell when he became
distracted and lost his focus.
As we walk through life, let's remember to focus on God. We can trust
His promise to uphold us with His righteous right hand.
Almighty and everlasting God, amidst confusion and fear, help me focus
on You rather than the trying situation. I know You can walk me
through it! In the holy name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, I pray. Amen.

Each day is a miracle. :-)
Today's thought from Hazelden is:
Real friends are those who, when you've made a fool of yourself, don't feel that you've done a
permanent job.
--Erwin T. Randall
What kind of friends do we have? Are they people who complain a lot? Are they people who laugh at us or put others down?
The kind of people we want to be will decide what kind of friends we have. If we want to feel sorry for ourselves, we will choose friends who will tell us how rotten their lives are. If we want to
think we're better than others, we will hang around people who laugh at others' mistakes.
But if we want to be the best we can be, we will pick friends who see the good in life, people who will encourage us to be ourselves and who will help us try harder at things that are difficult for
us.
How can I be a better friend today?

"L E T T I N G G O"
By T. D. Jakes
There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you
this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to
try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you,
caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up
the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is
never tied to anybody that left.
The Bible says that, 'They came out from us that it might be made manifest
that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have
continued with us.' [1 John 2:19]
People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not
joined to you, you can't make them stay.
Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part
in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your
story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to
know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you
something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I
believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and
I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it
takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!!
If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never
intended for your life, then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to past hurts and pains .......
LET IT GO!!!
If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth......
LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you.
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge.....
LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction... ..
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents..
LET IT GO!!!
If you have a bad attitude.... ..
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better.....
LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in
Him.........
LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship. ....
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves..
LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed ......
LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself
and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,' then you need to....
LET IT GO!!!
'The Battle is the Lord's!'

Hello 2010. It is a New Year. How many of us have made New Year resolutions that we know we won't keep?. I resolved a long time ago that I would not make any resolutions for the New Year, and that way I wouldn't have to worry about breaking them. One resolve we all should have is that we grow closer to our Creator.
John 1-14
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2. The same was in the beginning with God.
3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus was. is and will ever be the Word, One with God, Son of God and creator of all things . Get to know Him today. It will be a life changing experience.
